Why Cell Culture Quality Matters
Real-time monitoring of cell cultures helps detect population heterogeneity, stress, metabolic shifts, contaminations and process deviations early — enabling proactive adjustments before yield or quality decline.
Conventional methods rely on laborious sample preparation, delayed analytical results and unspecific data.
The Ampha X30 provides immediate, quantitative, single-cell data, supporting:
- Better process control
- Faster and more accurate decision-making
- Reduced variability and higher reproducibility
- Improved efficiency across upstream processes
What Makes the Ampha X30 Unique
Multiparametric Single-Cell Impedance Analysis
The Ampha X30 measures each cell individually across multiple electrical parameters — including size, membrane integrity, and cytoplasmic composition.
This enables quantitative profiles of cell count, viability and metabolic activity in a single, label-free run.
Real-Time Monitoring for Faster Decisions
From sample to data within minutes, the Ampha X30 supports rapid intervention and optimization in bioprocesses.
shifts in viability or metabolic status can be detected early — before they impact yield or quality.
Works With All Major Cell Types
One system for yeast, bacteria, mammalian cells and algae — no optical adjustments, no staining protocols, no markers required. Only a microfluidic chip adjusted to the cell size is required. This flexibility makes it ideal for labs handling multiple organisms or process types.
Label-Free, Non-Destructive Analysis
No dyes or markers are needed and the applied electrical field does not harm the cells. Therefore, cells remain intact for reuse,.tissue-culture or sorting.
Workflows become faster, simpler and more cost-effective.
The Ampha X30 software supports 21 CFR Part 11–compliant workflows, including user management, audit trails and secure data handling — enabling use in regulated bioprocessing environments.
A flexible, multiparametric, label-free analyzer delivering real-time insights for any cell culture.

Technology: Impedance-Based Single-Cell Cytometry
The Ampha X30 uses impedance flow cytometry to characterize each cell as it passes through the microfluidic sensing zone. A alternating electrical field is applied, and each cell’s interaction with that field creates a unique impedance signal.
This enables real-time, label-free measurement of:
- Cell count
- Cell size
- Viable and dead cells (membrane integrity)
- Metabolic status (cytoplasmic conductivity)
- Population heterogeneity
Unlike optical or biochemical assays, impedance flow cytometry:
- Works with turbid, opaque and autofluorescent media
- Requires no staining, calibration or incubation
- Provides high reproducibility with minimal operator influence
Microfluidic Chip Technology for Robust Cell Analysis
The heart of the Ampha X30 Impedance Flow Cytometer consists of a patented microfluidic chip equipped with microelectrodes. Cells flow through precisely engineered microchannels which are available in three different sizes, adapted to the size of the cell and optimized for highest sensitivity. The electrodes measure changes of the electrical resistance (impedance) of the fluidic medium when single cells pass through the applied electric field. The detection of cell size, membrane capacitance and cytoplasmic conductivity is translated into cell count, viability, and metabolic activity.
Most relevant chip features:
- Three chips with microfluidic channels of 10, 30 and 50 µm
- Smart chip provides appropriate templates
- Guarantee of 1000 measurements per chip
Programming for specific applications with automated data-analysis possible
The minimal sample preparation and non-invasive measurement enable fast and real-time measurements in high throughput, ideal for R&D, process development, production, and quality control workflows.
